Almost concluding our series on spiritual disciplines found in Matthew 6. This week message is devoted to the topic of fasting by looking at what fasting is, the benefits of fasting, and how to begin the practice of fasting.
Conclusion of last week’s message which dealt with confessing our wrongful actions before God, and others. This concept taken from Matthew 6:12-15 also involves both and receiving forgiveness from God and from this act of God’s grace one is able to grant forgiveness toward others. The discipline of confession and granting forgiveness to others is difficult and challenging, however, the rewards are unmatched.
This week we look at the spiritual discipline of confession from the Sermon on the Mount chapter six. This is part one of a two part series on the aspect of our need to request forgiveness to God and grant forgiveness of others.
The second part of two messages on prayer which is a spiritual discipline that Christ expects his followers to use. This is indicated in Matthew 6 by his phrase, “When you pray.” This week the focus of the message is on the Lord’s Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13.
